OAKOKHO — অআকখ — is dedicated to keeping the Assamese language, culture, and traditions alive for students and families across the world. Through structured classes, cultural programs, and community events, we connect the diaspora to their roots.
Thousands of Assamese families across the world face a quiet challenge: their children grow up far from the land, language, and customs that define their identity.
OAKOKHO bridges that gap. We offer structured Assamese language classes, celebrate traditional festivals like Bihu, share stories, songs, and literature — everything it takes to keep a culture vibrant across generations and across oceans.
Structured Assamese reading, writing, and speaking for all age groups — beginner through advanced.
Bihu celebrations, traditional music, dance, storytelling, and art that keep our heritage alive.
Gatherings, workshops, and virtual meetups that connect the global Assamese diaspora.
Structured learning and cultural enrichment for every age group
12-week Assamese language course for children and beginners. Spring 2026 session — every Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.

Voices of the families we serve
I am incredibly grateful for the OAKOKHO initiative and the dedicated team behind it. By promoting Assamese culture, language, and heritage, OAKOKHO has created a vital digital platform that serves as a gateway to the rich tapestry of Assam. The passion and commitment of the team shine through, fostering a sense of community among us. What makes this initiative truly special is that it operates solely on the generosity of community members' donations, showcasing the power of collective support. OAKOKHO is not just a digital platform; it's a testament to the strength of community bonds and the preservation of our cultural roots. Proud to be a part of this meaningful journey!
Chiranjit is a wonderful teacher and engaging every Sunday. He cares about his students and preserving Assamese culture. He spent time on the fundamentals (reading, writing, and speaking) as well as ensuring the class was fun with games. He taught us a variety of topics and phrases. I am excited to visit Assam to use the Assamese language!
I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation and best wishes to OAKOKHO. The school's commitment to providing quality education and fostering a sense of community is truly inspiring. It is evident that OAKOKHO plays a crucial role in nurturing a deeper connection to Assamese heritage and culture among its students. I extend my sincere congratulations to Chiranjit for his tireless efforts in creating an environment that encourages learning and appreciation. He has opened a remarkable gateway for Assamese children living in North America to reconnect with their roots through the learning of their mother tongue. May OAKOKHO continue to strive in its mission, and may the students benefit immensely from the invaluable education and experiences offered by the school. Wishing OAKOKHO continued success and growth in fostering a love for Assamese language and culture.
