Official announcements and statements from OAKOKHO.

A pivotal highlight of OAKOKHO’s commitment to linguistic advocacy is its 2016 collaboration with the international nonprofit organization TeachAIDS. During the launch of the Assamese version of their world-renowned HIV prevention software, OAKOKHO was instrumental in the meticulous creation of Assamese subtitles and captioning writeups for the tutorial videos. This contribution was vital for the animated series, which featured the voices of Assamese icons Pranjal Saikia and Kopil Bora, ensuring the complex medical information was both culturally resonant and accessible to the hearing-impaired. By bridging the gap between clinical health data and regional language nuances, OAKOKHO’s work facilitated a deeper community understanding of HIV/AIDS, reinforcing the power of localized digital media in public health education.
In addition to its cultural and linguistic digital projects, OAKOKHO has consistently prioritized philanthropic engagement. In February 2016, the Oakokho Group was formally recognized by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a Certificate of Appreciation presented by Marlo Thomas. This honor was bestowed in recognition of the organization’s dedicated support in helping the hospital fulfill its promise to families that no child is ever turned away due to an inability to pay. By aligning its resources with the world-renowned institution founded by Danny Thomas, OAKOKHO has demonstrated that its vision of "infrastructure for humanity" extends beyond digital tools to include the support of vital medical research and pediatric care on a global scale.
